Division One Season Preview

WARRIORS TO BOUNCE STRAIGHT BACK?
Dutch Warriors are bound to start red hot favorites. Having won 4 cups and finishing in the top 2 of the Norfolk league for 5 seasons on the trot, it was a surprise to see the Warriors slip to relegation last season, but the club have managed to hold on to most of their stars and their supporters will expect an instant return.

THE OTHER CONTENDERS:
Of the other potential contenders, Smallville will also be looking for an immediate return to the Norfolk League. They have sacrificed a bit of depth in the hope that Janko Djurjevic can solve their striker problems.

One side without any striking problems should be Dinot Riders. The strike force of Tovetoft and Walsted is one of the most deadliest around. Between them they've scored 113 goals for the club.

THE OUTSIDERS:
Edinburgh Wolves have spent big in an attempt to push themselves closer to the top 2. 19 million has been splashed out on Gordon Vallin - his defensive partnership with the exceptional Gustavo Vicente could become one of the best around.

Highland Select have opted for continuity during the off-season. Their be hoping to build on their current run of only 2 defeats in their last 11 matches and will be looking for the ever improving Rafael Sainz to be the catalist for a good season.

Armoth's Army have finished in the top 4 in the last two seasons and have also adopted for continuity. In Ernst Scherz they posses the best goal keeper in the Norfolk League.

THE NEW BOYS:
N.Y.Muggers have had one unsuccessful season at this level before, but their young squad are developing all the time and could prove dangerous if they can maintain their consistency they showed last season.

Things will be tougher for chertseychoppers but they have shown good progress up to now. This will be a tough test for them and they will need to adapt quickly. Experienced players like Biakollo and Ndeti will need to be at their best.

PLAYERS TO WATCH:
Ernst Scherz, Goalkeeper, Norfolk And Chance:
The 24-year-old shot stopper is arguably the best keeper in the Norfolk League and finished 4th in last seasons player of the Season awards.

Gustavo Vicente & Gordon Vallin, Defenders, Edinburgh Wolves: Is this potentially the best central defensive partnership ever seen in the Norfolk league? The pair have cost the club a combined total of 39 million econs!

Ove Tovetoft & Oistein Walsted, Strikers, Dinot Riders: Two of the sharpest forwards around. Both are very prolific and will take a lot of stopping.

Dorian McBrain, Midfieder, N.Y.Muggers: Has shown he is a class above in Division Two on two separate seasons, but can he inspire the Muggers to more success at this higher level?

Dave Feitings, Defender, Dutch Warriors: He may be 33 now, but Feitings remains a potent weapon in the Warriors cavalry. His deadball expertise have already seen him score 44 goals for the club.

STARS OF THE FUTURE:
Masao Totaki, Striker, Dutch Warriors:
At the tender age of just 21, Totaki has already has 18 Norfolk league goals to his name - Exposed against weaker defenses, he could wreck havoc.

Cesar Epalle, Striker, chertseychoppers: The 21-year-old scored 9 goals in his debut season, this season will be tougher for him against better defences.

Merco Cocu, Defender, Dutch Warriors: This 20-year-old has the potential to be the long-term replacement for Dave Feitings in terms of both defending and from dead-ball situations.

Kieran Sawyer, Striker, N.Y.Muggers: The 19-year old has already bagged 7 goals for the Muggers with Ash Samba Boyz and Norfolk And Chance amongst his victims so far.
