Norfolk Trophy Round-up
Round 1:
There were three upsets in Round One, the biggest of which saw Division Two side Spatula United stun top flight HM Gunners thanks to a 90th minute strike from new signing Taitislav Prokop. Pegasus also overcame a 2 divisional disadvantage as they came from 1-0 down with 1 minute remaining to defeat toon rejects 2-1. Things were a little more clear cut for Blackhawk Rangers who recorded an impressive 3-0 win over AFC Trotters.
Elsewhere, Division Three side Athletico Redhill came mightily close to upsetting Norfolk League champions Ash Samba Boyz - only losing out on penalties after an even match. Another third division side causing a top flight trouble were Fairfield C.A who came withing 5 minutes of forcing a penalty shootout against Amazingstoke Gooners.
Other top flight sides who suffered scares were Ross County Reserves, who eventually overcame Shawfield Reborn on penalties, City of Uhra and Dutch Warriors both of whom came from behind against lower division opposition in the form of Dinot Riders and Norfolk And Chance respectively.
Round 2:
The tie of the round on paper was between Hotshots and Amazingstoke Gooners - it was the defending holders who eventually won through on penalties after a close game.
Unlike Round 1, upsets and scares were in short supply with Division Three side Pegasus the only team to defeat higher divisional opposition - Tyler Weatherstone's free kick securing their second win over higher league opposition.
Dutch Warriors were pushed all the way by Toft Monks Athletic before a 95th minute winner from Dermott Seabury secured Braindead's mens progress.
Quarter Final draw:
The draw has thrown up another "Clash of the titans" as the league's two most successful teams are paired together. City of Uhra have won this competition twice whilst Ash Samba Boyz have made the final in the last two seasons, winning in Season 10. They have also claimed the last 7 league titles between them.
Elsewhere, Pegasus will be eyeing another cup upset as they take on Dutch Warriors. The Division Three side have already caused two upsets so far and are flying the flag for the sides outside the top 2 divisions.
Elsewhere, the two remaing ties see Division One sides take on Norfolk league opposition. Fulham FC will face current holders Hotshots whilst former winners Toon Army play Highland Select
