SEASON 9
*****************Ninth
Season*********************** The build up to season nine was dominated by the return of 2 former managers and the creation of a new division. After just under 2 seasons away, former Norfolk Enchants boss Nicholas Millar returned to take charge of Gohtza City whilst his former rival Mark Howard return to take charge of MJH Stars. Also joining the Norfolk League were Sean-NUFC (Aldershot TOON), Paul Dale (Britannia City), Prallc (Norfolk N Way), Ddkeens (Fratton Fliers) and Dazzagb (Dazza Demons). Daniel Horn left his job with Britannia City to take charge of Division Two side Wilson F.C.

league-------------------------- Two sides dominated the Norfolk League - defending champs White Riot and Ash Samba Boyz. Both showed remarkable consistency throughout the season and the title race ultimately boiled down to the two sides meeting at Collins Park. The Samba Boyz emerged 2-1 winners leaving them 5 points clear with 3 games to go - it proved enough for them to clinch their first title since season 3.
At the bottom, the relegation battle was as tight as ever with the remaining 6 teams all caught up in the scrap. Eventually, the penaultimate round of matches saw toon rejects condemned to the drop and leaving the final place to be determined by the last game of the season between Shawfield and Hotshots. The winner would survive, the loser would go down and a draw would see Shawfield safe. It was Adhogan's side who emerged on top but only after a 93rd minute equaliser from Alf Law.
----------------------Division
One-------------------------- The promotion race emerged into a 2 horse race with Dutch Warriors ultimately pipping N.Y.Muggers to the title glory by 4 points. The other sides were unable to mount a telling challenge although both Dinot Riders and Highland Select did keep the top 2 honest for most of the season but consistantly were at least a win or two off the pace.
At the bottom, the unfortunate chertseychoppers battled gamely throughout the season but were luckless and they failed to secure a point. The 2nd relegation spot was between 3 teams with 2 games to go - Edinburgh Wolves and Norfolk And Chance were tied on points whilst a nervous Smallville side lay 4 points ahead but with tricky games against Edinburgh and the Muggers to come. However, the Wolves failed to gain another point whilst their two nearest rivals won both games to send Ricky's side back to Division Two.
----------------------Division
Two-------------------------- Both Daniel Horn and Wilson F.C had miserable seasons in season 8, both suffering relegations but their union during this season produced remarkable success as Wilson dominated the division winning 10 of their 12 games. The remaining promotion place was between Rubber Dubbers and AFC Trotters. The two sides met at the Trigger Arena on the final day. Victory for either would secure promotion, whilst a draw would promote Rubber Dubbers. The Trotters took a 2-0 lead but the Dubbers battled back to secure a dramatic 3-2 victory.
At the bottom, both Hoole F.C. and Norfolk Enchants struggled and comfortably finished in the bottom 2. The battle to finish 6th and avoid relegation was effectively decided in the penultimate weekend as the two sides met - a 1-1 draw maintained Hoole's 3 point advantage and ultimately secured them survival.
----------------------Division
Three------------------------ The first running of Division Three was a competitive affair with all no sides proving completely out of their depth. After Britannia City faded after a promising opening, the promotion race emerged into a battle between 3 sides, Aldershot TOON, Norfolk N Way and Gohtza City. The battle climaxed in the remaining 3 games of the season with a sequence of matches between the sides determining the outcome. In the end, Gohtza secured the title on the final day, with Aldershot TOON holding their nerve to join them in Division Two next season after Norfolk N Way faltered in the run-in.
The league did see a number of managerial changes during the season with Hedgehog1 replacing Paul Dale in charge of Britannia, whilst Dan Derkson replace Dazzagb as manager of Dazza Demons (now known of Dangler Dans).

Cup------------------- White Riot finally achieved the remarkable landmark of winning all 3 major trophies - an achievement only previously held by Braindead of Dutch Warriors. During their cup run they defeated last seasons winners Shawfield in a tight semi-final before they shatted the dreams of toon rejects in the final - winning 2-1. For the rejects, it was the second time they had come so close to the trophy - their run will be best remembered for an excellent victory over Dutch Warriors in the semi final as well as a second round win over Ash Samba Boyz.
The game of the tournament saw toon rejects come from 2-0 down with 10 minutes to go at home to Edinburgh Wolves to win 3-2 in the first leg of their quarter final.
----------------------Norfolk
Trohpy-------------------------- The Norfolk Trophy was a tournament full of shocks this season. In the end, two new finalists emerged. Dros Delnoch defeated HM Gunners and Ash Samba Boyz on their way to the final. AFC Trotters exceeded all expectations and booked their place at the Xpert Arena with three penalty shootout victories and three triumphs over higher league opposition. In the final, a penalty from Dominic Billingham proved decisive as Waylanders' Dros Delnoch claimed their first major trophy.
Amongst the most entertaining games of the tournament were Dros Delnoch's 3-2 victory over the Samba Boyz in round 1, whilst AFC Trotters' back to back 2-2 draws with Dutch Warriors and Dinot Riders were dramatic affairs that could have gone either way.
