HALL OF FAME - HISTORY

SEASON 7

***************Seventh Season***********************
Division Two was re-extended to 8 teams as chertseychoppers, Turnip Torsoes and No Surrender Gers entered the fray. Kingsway Athletic and Pirates were replaced. The league was hit by a scandal just days before its oppening. Norfolk boss Nicholas Millar and Hoole FC manager Machinehead were sacked by the xpert 11 crew for alleged "duplicate accounts". Nick returned but Machinehead was replaced by Tom Daltrey - who himself was later sacked for the same reason. Nick decided to resign two weeks into the season and was replaced by Matt Sanders who was replaced at Car Fax by Ricky.

The season itself was a story of 2 sides as Dutch Warriors and White Riot shared the 3 major honours between themselves
----------------------Norfolk league--------------------------
A fascinating season saw the title decided in the 90th minute of the last game of the season. 6 sides were in contention and only 5 points separated them all with 5 games to play. Then came a series of "knockout" games with the loser effectively out of the race. First Dutch Warriors beat Hotshots in week 10 to end their hopes. Then in week 11 the Warrios ended Ash Samba Boyz hopes with a 3-0 away win. Week 12 saw the Warriors end HM Gunners title charge whilst in week 13 White Riot won away at toon rejects to end their hopes. That left the Dutch Warriors with a 3 point lead over defending champs White Riot with a 3 goal advantage on goal difference. The Riot did their job with a 2-0 win at Shawfield but as the Warriors clash with toon rejects entered stoppage time, trailing by 1-0 the title looked set to be decided on head-to-head record. However Itay Seviliya's 90th minute goal handed the Riot their 3rd straight title.

Things at the bottom were much more straight forward. Both Shawfield and Hoole FC were cut adrift early on and both were relegated comfotably before the end of the season.

----------------------Division One--------------------------
Dros Delnoch romped to promotion to the top flight for the first time. They lead from week 3 onwards and claimed the title by 4 points. The race for 2nd was a little closer. Smallville, who had held a promotion place for most of the season, entered the final day with a 2 point advantage over Armoth's Norfolk And Chance. Smallville gained the required 3 points with a 2-1 win at Wilson FC.

At the bottom, N.Y.Muggers first season at this level ended in relegation. A run of just 2 points from their last 6 games saw them finish 6 points off safety. The fight to avoid the remaining place went down to the final day. Wilson FC had been in the bottom 2 for most of the season but an excellent late run guaranteed them survival with a game to spare. It was between MJH Athletic who had started strongly, and Norfolk Enchants who lay a point behind their local rivals. Norfolk fell to a 5-0 defeat at Dros Delnoch which condemed them to the drop.

----------------------Division Two--------------------------
Ross County Reserves, under new management from MacLeod, dominated the early stages of the season winning their first 6 games. After that they steadily paced their way to the title - although they needed a last day victory to hold off Car Fax. Car Fax saw an early season change of manager and their season seemed to be in disaray after losing their first 4 games. An amazing 10 match winning streak transformed their season and beat off tough competition from Adhogan's Turnip Torsoes, who themselves had been lurking around the top 4 positions for most of the season.

----------------------Norfolk League Cup-------------------
A 90th minute winner from Jochem de Ridder gave Dutch Warriors their 3rd league cup victory with a 2-1 triumph over White Riot. Robert Swales had put the Riot ahead just after the break but a mad 4 minutes from Tommi Persbrant changed the final. First he missed a penalty and then earnt a straight red card. Remco Goosen equalised on 72 minutes before the late winner from de Ridder.

Dros Delnoch produced the best performance of a side outside the Norfolk League. They reached the semi-finals having beaten toon rejects, Hotshots and Hoole FC.

The game of the tournament saw Norfolk And Chance fall to a courageous 4-3 defet away at Dutch Warriors. Smallville also defeated Dinot Riders by the same scoreline whilst the most entertaining tie was probably the 1st round clash between No Surrender Gers and Norfolk And Chance which saw the latter triump 5-4 on aggregate.

----------------------Norfolk Trohpy--------------------------
The trophy belonged to White Riot again. They demolished Dutch Warriors 4-0 in the final. Division Two newcommers chertseychoppers nearly caused the upset of the tournament as they conceded a 119th minute equaliser to the Warriors in their semi-final before losing on penalties. Ross County also flew the flag for Division Two before being knock out by the choppers in the quarter finals.
