Season 6: Norfolk League Quarter Final, 1st leg
Riders edge 8 goal thriller
Car Fax Utd 3-5 Dinot Riders Car Fax's defence of their Norfolk league crown is hanging by a thread after two late goals earnt Dinot Riders a comfortable advantage to take back to the Riders Dome for next weeks second leg after a pulsating encounter.
The Riders began the night as favourites for the tie. The Norfolk League side entered the game with 3 wins from their last 4 matches although they were facing a Division Two side in Car Fax who had defeated Ash Samba Boyz, White Riot, Norfolk Enchants and Dutch Warriors on the way to league cup glory last season and had already defeated the Warriors again in this seasons competition.
It was the visitors who took the early lead - Defender Ruben Klit striking his first goal for the club from long range after only 7 minutes. Car Fax responded well and went in at half time ahead though. Their midfield play maker Martin Perdiquero was the star, first creating the equaliser for the equally impressive Cristiano Flores and then adding a 2nd himself from Albert Hutchinson's pull back.
Few sides have ever possessed such a potent strike force as the Riders though. Oistein Walsted scored his first 5 minutes after the break before he headed in Kaspar Damjso's corner to put the Riders 3-2 up.
Substitute Tommy Winter appeared to give Car Fax hope as he equalisde on 77 minutes with a header from Flores' cross but Walsted struck again just minutes later from a Tylstrup corner before Damsjo put the icing on the cake with 4 minutes remaining to send the Riders back to Denmark very pleased with their nights work.
