Trott brilliance wins
Car Fax final
CAR FAX UTD 1-0 ASH SAMBA
BOYZ
---------------------------------------------------------------------The
showpiece final at the Xpert Arena promised so much - David v Goliath - a
competitive local derby - 2 sides looking for their first cup trophy - 2
sides looking to score goals and play entertaining football. In reality
the fairy tale story came true for Car Fax but the game itself failed to
live up to the billing.
A mixture of nerves and very fussy
refereeing completly ruined the spectacle. Leif Snugge produced 5 yellow
cards to the Samba Boyz in the opening half and hour and hist constant
whistling meant only 2 chances were created in the first half. The only
chance for the Norfolk league side was from a free-kick but Tino Cassilo's
effort was waywood.
The Samba Boyz then lost their inspirational
skipper through injury, giving a cup final appearance to youngster Fausto
Albertino.
In fact, it took a moment of brilliance to create
anything from open play.
Car Fax skipper Timotheo Mourinho got to the
by-line, pulled the ball back for Jason Trott who outrageously backheeled
the ball into the back of the net. The Car Fax fans went
delerious.
Half time and surely things could only better? Well Car
Fax did nearly double their lead straight after half time. Perdiquero's
cross was met well Ned Broomes but his header was tipped over by Justin
Deayton.
However, the referee then suddenly realised he was in
danger of being upstaged and began over-using his whistle again. 2 Car Fax
players went into the book as the ref did his best to try and even the
scores up. The superb Car Fax rear guard marshalled by the excellent Ken
Williamson kept the Norfolk league side away from goal until the 87th
minute when Aaron Brightwell's header forced Taipale into a rare
save.
Overall, a really poor game thanks to Mr. Snugge. You have to
say though that Car Fax created the better of the few opportunities that
were on offer and for that they probably deserved to sneak it. But at the
end of the day in seasons to come it will be the story of Car Fax's
amazing story - beating all the odds to defeat 4 of the best 6 teams this
league has to offer (according to the league table) - that will live long
in the memory - the final itself probably
won't
