Athletic unlucky as Gunners
escape
HM Gunners 3-3 MJH
Athletic
In another almost catastrophic
home display, HM Gunners, who in previous seasons have almost been
invincible at Dynamite Canyon, had to call on all their experience,
wits and downright determination to avoid defeat at the hands of
Athletic.
It all started well for the home side as Ned Stride
struck in the third minute. There then followed injuries to Jevgeni
Dubrovskij and Carl Fagerlund in the space of seven minutes. With the
requisite changes made, Athletic came back into the match with a superb
equaliser through Isak Normlund with a header that came at the end of a
well-worked corner.
Chai Ylser put the visitors further ahead after
the break and Jerry van Engel looked to have sealed the win and the points
for Athletic when he scored a long-range belter. However, one minute
later, Ned Stride scored his second of the match and put the Gunners right
back into the match.
Emanuel Lima restored parity from the penalty
spot after substitute Bento Milhazes was brought down by Timothy
Sykes.
After the game, we caught up with the Gunners'
manager,
"After Wednesday night, we had to get something out of
this game, and I wasn't sure we were going to. They played really well and
will probably think they deserved to win the game. Had we had Benny
(Coffey) available, then chances are he would have made the freekicks tell
more, but nonetheless, I am probably the more happier with the
point."
