HM Gunners gained the advantage from an incredable match which saw them gain a two goal advantage over defending holders Dutch Warriors.

The Warriors went into this tie having only lost 1 of their previous 18 matches in this competition and having won the previous 2 league cups, but if they thought they were in for a comfortable evening against the Division One challengers then they were given a rude awakening.

The first half was a fairly even afair with Marty McCarroll giving the Gunners an early lead before Ties Schenning levelled for the visitors.

After half-time though the game opened into a goal frenzy as both sides seemed to through caution to the wind and go for broke. First defender Ritchie Steadman headed in a corner from Benny Coffey for the hosts. The lead lasted barely 60 seconds when Jochem de Ridders' cross was headed in by Gareth Debbi. Grim turned provider 10 minutes later as he squared for de Ridder to fire the visitors in front.

The Warriors struck again a minute later, although David Lasuen will wish he hadn't as his deflection wrong footed Spilenbeen in the Warriors goal. With just over 20 minutes to go, Bento Milhazes restored the Gunners lead for the third time after he was first to meet Benny Coffey's delightful cross. 2 minutes later Coffey completed his hat-trick of assists when he picked out McCarroll from a free-kick - the midfielder left Spilenbeen with no chance.

With just 10 minutes left it looked like the tie was over. Coffey's corner was headed in by Noel Hope. But in the 84th minute the warriors were handed a lifeline by midfielder Jordi Grim who headed in Ludvig Biljeveld's centre to make it 6-4.
